How would the period of the curve change if the value of B was changed to 2? Use the blue slider in box "7" below and change the value of B to 2.

Now that you have changed B to positive 2, locate the new endpoints of one cycle when B is 2. Use (0,0) as one of the endpoints. One cycle of your new graph should have a similar shape as the blue graph on the right, but a shorter or compressed period. Follow the new red graph to find the other coordinate for the end of the period. You can use your mouse to highlight the x-intercepts needed to define the period.

1. How long is the new period when B is 2? Is the period still 2pi?
9
2. Continue to change the value of B. Change the value of a to 2, 4, 6 and 8. Record the period each time using values of pi. How would you describe the relationship between the value of B and the period of the function for each value of B? Use this relationship to create a formula for finding the period when B is any positive number. STOP here.
