Maybe make two control point ways of using:
1. Keyboardless
Two modes. Selection mode and edit mode, allows you to compose without a mouse. In Selection mode, left right is next note/entry. if no note afterwards right, it will auto create one and put you in edit mode. To edit note, go into edit mode by using up arrow on the selected note. going down in selection mode deletes the note entry. To help differentiate, visual cue of at least the color of control point changing. In edit mode up down changes how high/low the note is, left toggles the octave option, and right exits out of edit mode and makes you select the next note.
2. I can't remember, but not as powerful and fast as Keyboardless, but simpler and easier to understand. Oh wait yeah, up down changes the selected note pitch, and right left selects the next or previous note
